I have a 15 hp 4-stroke Yamaha. It's a 15" shaft. Problem is I just bought a hull that needs a 20" shaft motor. My thinking was that I could just buy the longer lower unit. I was wrong. Yamaha does not sell the long shaft kit to swap out lower units for its 4-strokes.

Talked to a company called Bay Marine...they said they might offer the after-market long shafts next year. Guess I'll have to wait or buy a long shaft unless someone knows of any other options I have????

Jim-

What are you putting it on? How is it mounted to the transom? One of those Garelick adjustable motor brackets might handle your length issue.

Putting it on a 15' skiff with a 20 inch transom.

Don't know much about the bracket you are referring too...can you describe how your idea would work for me?

I'm talking an adjustable outboard bracket that swings up and down, thus giving you the ability to lower your engine.
Though I don't know if that's appropriate for a 15' skiff.

My motor is a tiller so not sure that would work....i'll look into it a bit more.
