Non-Ethanol Gasoline

Pirates Cove Marina in Manteo has been pumping non-ethanol gasoline for about a month now.

Gassed up at Pirates Cove on Friday...2.99 gallon for ethanol free. You can either put your boat in the water and pull up to the fuel dock and fill up or park in the parking lot and ferry jerry-cans back and forth. You can't pull your boat up to the fuel dock on the trailer.

Also heard that the Hess station on 158 in Kill Devil Hills (near Belk department store) is pumping ethanol free. I gassed the truck up there on Friday and there were no ethanol stickers on the pumps but I didn't go in and ask.

Be careful of claims of Ethanol free gas, I was bitten by that two years ago. A local station claimed they were ethanol free and were actually getting mixed fuel deliveries, one week would be E free, the next would not. It really compounded alot of local ethanol/Outboard problems in the area.
The station claimed they didn't know, they blamed the delivery company. It cost me about $1300, and alot of fishing time :nono:.

I did find that once I made the E fuel switch and stayed up on my preventitive maintenance, I had very few problems. (knock on wood)..... I have only used e10 fuel since the switch though.

The Eagle Mart gas station next to the USCG/ECG airport in Elizabeth City advertises Ethanol-free, 100% gasoline. They don't accepts cards at the pumps, but they do inside.

I can't vouch for the quality of the gas, but I see trailered boats at the pumps from time to time.

Friend of mine stopped by the Hess in Manteo. Asked them about the ethanol content since they did not have the 10% ethanol sticker on the pumps. Their reply was they didn't have to post the ethanol sticker as their gas had below the percentage of ethanol that required posting but they weren't sure of the percentage.

Guess I'll stick with Pirate's Cove. for the time being
