Had a crew that wanted to go marlin hunting. Was not going head all the to the Norfolk from OC where the hot bite was Sat. So we headed towards the warm water at Poormans. But before we got there we ran across a very nice and well formed weedline on the 30 line and couldn't resist putting in. With full doulbe ballyhoo dredge and naked dinks on circle hooks, we instantly started getting short bit by small to Med. dolphin. Put a few in the box, but missed many more. Great line that went for miles. finally switched from circle hooks to more mahi friendly j hooks. Stared putting small to med. mahi in the box. Picked a wahoo and a 25lb yft as the day went on. Fun non-stop action. Went thru 5 packs of small hoos. Sounded like a decent marlin bite deeper at the 50 line in the PM area.

15 for 20 dolphin
1 wahoo
1 yft

That water was streaking South fast Jim.We never did see that much in the way of Weeds Sunday outside the dog but did hear that there was a good Tuna bite just a few miles from us But we were targeting Wahoo's and had 6 bites 4 on at one point as we were wrapping up.

I think we fished that same weedline yesterday as well. We had a lot of short dolphin bites and only managed to put one in boat and a albie. Lots of ballyhoo bit in half though. That line was a little northwest of the tea cup and ran east to west. Saw about 3 wooden planks in it that I would hate to run over. One side of the line had nice clear warm water the other was pretty dirty inshore flow.

always hard to pass on a weed line that is most likely virgin:thumbup: We fished alittle NE of you and there were some bills in my area as well scatter yft. Plan to fish this weds, wondering how far south the water will have pushed by then.

I was also out there on Sat just north east of your location. I found one of those floating 4x4x12. As we trolled by 3 baits got hit. After boating only 1 mahi, we pulled the remaining rods and backed up to the log. I had 6 doz minnows and light spinning rods for just this situation. At one point we had 3 mahi on very light spinning tackle that were jumping in and out causing the crew to play twister with the gaff guy.

We also boated one small tuna and our first white.

I hope this water remains within reach for a while longer.
