Trim/Tilt on 225 Yam working intermittently.. Any suggestions on how to trace problem.. switch on motor itself works perfectly every time... switch by steering wheel is the one giving me a fit. Up usually always works, down almost never anymore. [shy][shy]

This happened to my Father-In-Laws Yamaha 115. It was a loose connection under the engine cowl.

Samething happened on my Merc 225. After pulling my hair out I found a broken wire inside the insulation. When my motor was turned starboard it wouldn't work but straight and port it was OK.

Claen ALL the connections under the dash including the switch. Then try it. If that fails - try the connections under the cowl.
