I caught the bug this morning and couldn't wait to get back on the water tonight. I only had about 1/2 hour so went to the beach pier. 2nd cast with my large Creek Chub, It was FISH ON!!! A 4" White Perch. This little guy was ready for dinner.
Nothing else tonight. thinking about getting back out in the early AM....

Interesting Goose,
I never heard it called Puppy Drum Point.... What's that story all about?

Yes Jeff, please, do tell......I am always up for some interesting Severn lore....

And thanks for the report Polar, I hope you got out this am as I'm betting the extra couple a minutes of overcast skies with the fog may have made for a good bite....

In light of that rather diminutive perch, I would like to reiterate an idea concerning our extended-duration tournaments. In addition for prizes to those who catch nice large fish, I would like to see a consolation prize for the smallest fish of a target species.

That gives those of us who are small-fish specialists an additional incentive.

If Im not mistaken Jeff caught a puppy black drum there and four hundred peope will be fishing there tommorrow evening. Burt I love pics too but be careful. This time of year the minute you give up a productive spot in the Severn with a pic you can expect four to five boats there the next nice evening. Just a word to the wise. Way to get out there and get a line wet!!!!

It's called Puppy Drum point for the reason that Big E just gave.....actually two drum (red and black) two different years. It doesn't take much for a point to get named.

That point holds absolutely no other fish of any species, especially in October.

Saw one eat a rocking chair once :D.

Got to love a fish that attacks something it's own size.

Big E - Thanks for the "Severn Lore". Goose catching Red & Black Drum there. That can surely get the blood pumping - even if it was 4 years ago...

As for giving away my spot, I'm with you about trying to avoid too much info. If the nice rock were around that part of town this week, I surely would keep it on the down low.

If I've got bad ass "piranha wanna-be" Perch with a Napolian complex in my backyard, I just can't help but put the word out.

Jeff is right, there are never any striped fish on that side of the river.

It's really amazing when you get right down to it what a hungry fish will go after....

Jeff,
They have the house up for sale too. It is an awesome house. You should look into it.
