Has anyone here ever used the Lowrance fuel flow system? It is a lot cheaper than the Floscan or Navman systems. I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything good or bad about it. I have a 2000 Evinrude 200hp EFI and would like to monitor my fuel use especially going out 30 - 40 miles. Thanks for your help.

Try something cheaper and just as reliable. I use GPS to record distance and fill-up quantity to figure usage. After doing the calulations of a few trips, I now use my GPS to tell me where I can and can't go. I know my limits running WOT for the majority of a trip and for trolling. It only takes a few 20mi trips to get some a decent sample. I've got a long but shallow tank, and the fuel gauge is useless since it's hard to get the necessary resolution needed from off-the-shelf sensors. I've never run out of gas, hit a summerged rocks[sad], but gas has never been a problem. I also never hit the water without a full tank for a fishing trip.

Where did you find the Lowrance fuel system? I can't find it anywhere.

I found it in the Boaters World Catalog and online. It apparently is part of some new network system that they have created. It doesn't look like it works alone it is just part of a bigger fish finder/gps system. I guess I will go with one of the other two.

It is a stand alone system. After talking with some folks at the Boaters World H/Q Lowrance is very excited about this new system and the convinced me that it will be as good or better than the NAVMAN or Floscan. I am going to give it a try.
Boaters World is discontiuing the NAVMAN 2100 so don't try to get one.

How is the fuel meter? I am looking for one but haven't seen too many boats with them so I am trying to get everyone's info before ordering one.

I am waiting for it to come in the mail. Lowrance was running behind about a week on delivery to BW. Once I get it hooked up and running I will let everyone know how it does.

Wow.......... someone else who does it like I do........ that's good to know....... Oh yeah, the best part is that it works fine. I've told several people back at the dock about how much fuel we've used for the day and always have been within a couple of gallons of what it took to fill the tank. That's about as accurate as some fo the fuel flow gauges. A couple of them thought I had a fuel flow meter on board. [grin]
