Most people (myself included) will probably recommend Bennetts. I have them on my 20' footer and love em. They will help you plane with heavier loads and at slower speeds, they will help you level the boat when needed, and most importantly to me they will help you adjust the boat for a better ride in rough water. I boat my boat without them and added them later so I know what the before and after was like. Go to their website for more info and or call them for advice on your specific hull.

i just put a set of electrotabs on my 20ft mako had the boat for 15yrs they definately do make a difference in side listing and to put bow down for a little better ride in chop, also allow to plane at a little slower speed, mine are 9x12 they recommend the biggest you can put on but space was limited on my transom my choices were 9x12 or 12x12. i went with electric because of the ease of installation and space.no pumps to mount or hydraulic lines to run, just wires to switch.i chose electrotab over lencos cause i think they had a better warranty.lencos seem to be more popular though. prices were pretty close. css

CSS has the scoop on performance. Basically, they have little or no affect until the boat planes off. Then, you can level the boat pretty much anyway you like. I also use them to help slow the trolling speed.
Definately an asset.

I installed a set of Lencos a while back. Not hard and what a difference. Gets up on plane faster, can go slower on plane, and adjust ride while your ill informed guests congregate on the cooler side.

Lenco or Bennetts are good. I have the Bennetts M120 on my 20ft Whaler.

Volvo QL Trim System is relatively new and a little more expensive but are a great space saver if boarding ladders etc are close. They need quite a large hole for the cabling though.

Once you install trim tabs, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. I have install them on a lot of boats and the owners have responded that the boat felt like it grew a few feet. The last install was on a Trophy 1952. The ride was so much different. Leveling the boat makes a huge differencewhen the load shifts. If it gets choppy, you can get the bow down to know down the chop with the forefoot of the hull. Between the engine trim and the tabs you will feel a world of difference. If you trailer your boat either hydraulic or electric will do the job. If you keep the boat in the water, I think it's a different story. I had the Lenco tabs on my boat and had nothing but trouble. After two operators went bad within five monthes of each other I changed to Bennett tabs. The first time the Lenco's went, the control box exploded and spiked my Furuno fishfinder via the negative bus and blew it out. It was off at the time. The Bennetts are not that much more to install. You still have to run wires to the helm for both brands. the only difference is the hydraulic hoses from the pump to the operators. I had a set from 1983 that I took off my old boat and mounted on my freind's and they are still working. Good luck on what ever you chose. Here's the Trophy with the tabs (Bennett Sportabs 120) and the Lenco control box after the explosion and the actuator with electrolysis after only ten months in the water. The box looks like a razor was taken to it. I keep my boat in the water all year.
