I'm starting to wear the paint off the lower unit of my outboard. When the motor is tilted up the mooring ropes are starting to rub the paint off the lower unit. Maybe someone has come up with a good idea on how to avoid this. Anyone?

Got rod holders in your gunnels? Should be able to rig something up above the O/B.

I moved my boat from an older pier to newer one at the marina. Reason was newer slips had a piling mid-way on side opposite of the finger pier. That allowed me to not have to cross ropes on the stern, which is your problem. Had to add an extra spring line on port side opposite of finger pier. So, 2 sterns, 2 springs, 2 bows, nothing crossed. Don't know if you've that luxury, hope it helps.
