I have an 18 C-Hawk that I'd like to mount the Humminbird transducer on the inside of the hull. The reason is that I'm really having problems to get it to read at all speeds from the transom. I've raised, lowered and repositioned it but still no joy. I've mounted several transducers over the years but nothing gave me problems like this one.
The C-Hawk is supposed to have a very solid hull that the beam can transmit through fairly easily. My question is, should I expect to make any common mistakes or experience other troubles that some of you might have experienced doing this? I'd appreciate any pointers before I epoxy it in. Thanks for your help. - Jim

Hi Jim,

Go to http://www.airmar.com/install/install_index.html , choose 'in hull' the the P79. That's what I've been running for three years and completely happy with it. Reads well at all speeds and if it ever fails it's a five minute job to plug in a new one (well plus fishing the cable![wink] If you want to just epoxy in yours, test locations first taping it down over a breast implant (well something like that[tongue]). I guess a ziplock filled bag of water would even do..to make sure it's not in the prop wash or anything else.
