I hit the water after work a little before 5pm and fished until 8pm, which was just after max ebb to very early flood. Surface water temp was 71* and salinity was 14.6.
I trolled a #15 silver Pet spoon with a yellow feather around the shoal between the two channels coming out of Solomons Harbor. I had a pretty good knockdown but didn't land anything. I saw some interesting marks between the shoal and Drum Point but kept going hoping I was see breakers past the Point.
At the Point, I caught a 16" blue as I was reeling in the spoon:

There was lots of bait in the area and I spent about an hour chasing various schools and throwing and jigging everything I had handy without any more luck. I trolled the area to no avail, too.
A little after 6, I headed toward shallower water to try some topwater action. I kept my spoon in the water but let out enough line so that the sinker was under water while I was at cruising speed. I caught another 16" blue this way and a 14" striper.
I had a few little blow-ups on my Chugbug, but no hook-ups. At a little after 7:30, I decided to head back to Solomons and try my luck at the various lighted piers. On my second cast, I caught a 22" striper on a silver and blue Rattletrap:

I'm not really that sweaty--the fish had splashed me pretty good before I took the pic. :pp
I only caught one more 16" striper while fishing the piers, so I called it quits at about 8. I rounded out the evening by almost getting brained by a mad mama duck :eek2::eek2: as I flipped over a juvenile duck that had somehow gotten stuck on its back. It looked like something was wrong with its wings, but I couldn't tell for sure. Fortunately, I heard her coming and ducked(!) :pp just in time.
It seemed like there were lots of bluefish out past Drum Point, but they were moving pretty fast hitting the different bait schools that were around. For some reason, they never organized into a big, breaking mass.
I wore my waders and semi-dry top over my nylon fishing pants and shirt. I wasn't ever hot or cold, but I totally sweated through everything to the point where I could feel the puddles of sweat rolling around in the sleeves of my semi-dry top. Yuck. I probably would've been less wet if I went without the dry gear, but I probably would've been cold. Not sure what the solution is.
