The big one topped my 50 lb scale and was 44 inches long.

how was the grass this trip

Nice fish. We hit the water for about 2 hours Saturday and could not give our bait away. I think I picked the only spot on the river where the fish were not.

Looks like somebody went home happy. Good job! Time to upgrade to 100# scales when going after blues.

I fished Sunday down river between ft belvoir and the powerlines. No real big fish and no ammout of fish period. Even the dink eating fish were slow. This last month has got to be my worst catfishing on the potomac in years... I am about to give up. Grass and crabs were bad. We figured out if you wind them crabs in real slow you can getum. We got 15 or so big jimmies.

Huge 1/4 acre sized grass matts went 10 yards starboard and 10 yards port. We cleared lines about 12 times in 6 hrs. Still bad we just lucked out with the big line/bait stealing matts.
