Went out on rocky gorge with a friend yesterday for the first time. Was a beautiful day, but we were unable to get on any fish. Threw jigs, deep cranks, rattle traps, creature baits, and soft crayfish. Does anyone have any intel on this reservoir?

Gin clear water so light mono and long casts are needed. The reservoir may be in turnover right now so my guess would be suspening cranks for LGMouth..ect.

the water wasnt really that clear. i've fished loch raven before with success using similar methods and I think it is much clearer.

They get good numbers of striped bass in there this time of year. Swim baits work well like storms and such.
My brother often fishes the reservoir from shore. He fishes downstream from Route 29 in the coves there using smallish lures like 2" rapals and rooster tails. He does okay, not great on LM bass and sometimes pike.

Have fished that reservoir for over 20 years. I drive over it every day on the way to work and have been thinking it looked like it should be good right now. Haven't fished it since the early summer though. If it were me fishing, I'd head up by the bridge and fish crankbaits around wood and rocks, but it sounds like you did that, so who knows.
We usually fish topwater in the summer either early or late, and crankbaits in the fall. Jerkbaits and spinnerbaits in the spring. There are plenty of largemouth, some smallmouth, some rockfish, as well as cats, pike, tiger musky, perch, crappie, sunfish, walleye, etc...
I'll report if I get out there any time soon.

Very nice. What did it take? Any other details would be appreciated. I've been meaning to try the reservoirs in the fall for the striped bass fishery. Can't beat that size LM though.
