Hello,

I'm looking to do some flyfishing for rock this December and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I live on the Potomac so I was considering heading down to Point Lookout State park or Westmoreland State Park and trying there. Just wanted to hear from others before I dedicate a whole day to it. I would probably be wading. Thanks for any help

I would head to the shore like DE or Ocean City area. very little shore fishing for rockfish that time of year on the bay. Some smallish fish might be around lights near marinas, inlets or narrows.

I was going to give it a go this weekend at Coles Point. I don't know what I'm doing but I'll try anything. I'll be fishing from a boat close to shore and have no idea where you can get access to wade and catch fish. Where on the Potomac are you?

I live in the Georgetown area but I'm willing to drive pretty far to fish.

Hey,

If you live on the potomoc, do some scouting in the evenings for docks with lights on them. A good hit list of lit docks and you should have no problems catching fish at night. You may need a boat is the only problem...but if you can find the right docks, maybe you can wade out to them.

Good Luck

check out the VCFA - Virginia Coastal Fly Angler website. They have a link to wading spots in the Hampton Roads area if you find yourself this far south.
