I am looking at a Boston whaler for my next boat and the electronics they offer are Northstar 6000. I don't know a thing about this brand, I always used Garmin, so I'm a bit concerned. Can you help me here if you can please??

Northstar is supposed to be one of the best out there. I believe they were among the first super accurate chart plotters and were rather pricey.

That's a great unit. Very user friendly.
A little more high-end than Garmin.
We run a Northstar 962 chart plotter on the boat I work on and it is in the shop 50% of the time. Great when they work. Generally I would stay away from the all in one units for obvious reasons but since that is what's on the boat your purchasing all I can say is ...let us know what you think.

Northstar is good stuff but - if you like the boat I wouldn't let the chart plotter enter into the decision. You can get a Garmin 2010 for $1,500 and install it next spring.
