I'm in the market for a depthfinder for my 14 foot smokercraft v-hull. I primarily fish the James and light inshore. I'm looking for the basics, depth, fish and temp. Any opinions? Is there a source for gently used electronics? I'm relatively new to boating, and don't want to purchase a lemon- Tim

Garmin model 80. It's inexpensive, easy to use, will read down several hundred feet, and Garmin's customer service is second to none. I use one on my power boat and am in the process of figuring out how to mount one on my kayak.
EDIT: Oh Yeah, and it's less than $100.
