seems like the deer just aint cooperating.....hunting hard....and different farms....deer seem to have stage fright....not really hitting the bait piles...i know there are plenty of acorns..plenty of sign.....are they still in a full moon phase?...i have found 6 or 7 fresh ground scrapes...so things are heating up a little....whats up?

I haven't even been out this year due to work and doing an addition on my house. Both fishing and hunting have taken a back seat. But my opinion is that your problem is the wind, it just flat does crazy things to deer, from completely changing their pattern to changing their eating times. Maybe try changing your times a bit. It is also about time for the older doe to come into season the first time and that will set things crazy for a few days. Hang in there they will come around and it will be business as usual.
Good hunting to you.

Ida, I seem to be haveing the same season as you. I have been in the woods, hunting hard and only seen 2 deer from my stands. My wife has yet to see a deer. I have been hunting white oaks that are steadily raining nuts, scrapes and rubs are everywhere, but no deer. I am not alone. Everyone I have been talking to here in the Isle of Wight area are experiencing the same thing. It's a little frustrating, but that's deer hunting! I think, with the weather change and the older does getting right, next week things will change...I hope! Good Luck

I say its the moon. Been seeing a few scrapes and rubs just not deer, didn't help that it was almost 80 saturday morning either. The second full moon in october should get the games started!

Been covered with deer on several farms in Calvert County. They're hitting certain acorn stands for sure. This colder weather should get them moving for you for sure!

I am hunting in Berlin, Md. and am experiencing the same problem. There not touching the bait piles. Acorns everywhere but I am not seeing anything. There are plenty of scrapes and rubs. They must be nocturnal. I can't figure it out. It was not like this the last 2 years in October. Its very weird.

Tons of acorns deep in the woods. Go really deep and you WILL find them there! They won't touch your corn untill the acorns dry up or rot.
