I've got a 2006 Triton 2286 w/ 225 Suzuki and love it! It is a quality-built boat that has held up well. With proper use of trim tabs it handles the bay chop nicely due to its deep -Vee hull shape. I found I there are large differences between this 2286 and my previous semi-vee boats-- it wants and needs to go fast to ride best ,taking advantage of the deep-vee shape. I cruise at 24.6 KNOTS @ 4200 rpm with three aboard in 2' chop comfortably. The Suzuki has been great, zero problems, has 300 hours on it now. It is so quiet at trolling speeds that for the first year I was often checking to confirm that it was running. The electrical system installation is done properly. The two minor shortcomings I have dealt with: the electronics box wants to spill its loose contents when running fast in a good chop so I installed a low barrier board across the bottom of box for a quick and easy fix. The other mod was to install two additional rod holders in gunnels since boat came with only two.
The 2286 is a more fishable layout than Tritons replacement for it, the 225. In fact, from the console front to all the way aft the 2286 has the same measurements as Triton's larger 2486. The only difference is two more feet of length forward of the console. Also most 2486 have twin power. My boat in on the Northern Neck, VA - glad to take you for a ride. PM me.
