I finally convinced wifey to see that catching crabs is about as much fun as eating them. So, she joined me on a trip to the South River today for her first crabbin trip! Despite the chilly weather, she had a blast and wouldn't hardly let me near the dippin net all day....
We started around 8:15am (had to get the rugrats off to school first) and ended around 1:00pm more or less. We (she) packed a bushel of nice Fall crabs in anywhere from 4-15 feet of water (never really pinned them down at one depth). Slack and incoming were the tides this morning.
While we were out and about, we ran across some obviously lost crabbin gear that someone lost recently. I left it in place all day until we pulled up and still no one went near it, so we retrieved it hoping to find it's rightful owner. If you can describe the gear -- please send me a message and we'll figure out how to get it back to you.
Hope the weather holds for a few more weeks so I can stock up the freezer for Winter...
Best wishes...
