I think I have a bad Hydraulic steering pump. The motor will just turn one way. It is a seastar 70HH5271 Helm. Does anyone have any ideas?

Check your fluid level. I had a similiar problem with mine. Had a bad seal. Karl

I'd check the fluid level first (as previously suggested).
If that's not it, disconnect the hydraulic cylinder from the motor and see if it moves both directions (the cylinder, not the motor)- if not, then I'd pull the hydraulic lines off of the cylinder and see if fluid comes out of each one when the helm is turned in each direction. This should isolate the problem to either the helm or the cylinder or a leak or the motor not turning one way.

I have the same problem with my steering, the hydraulic cylinder is new on motor, the fluid level is fine, mine must be in the helm.I would like to know if the helm can be rebuilt,or if i will have to buy a new one? If it can be rebuilt is it something i could do myself. Grady23 do you have the phone # to seastar. Thanks for all replys!
