I really wanted to go fishing this evening so I grabbed my rain gear, put the Kayak on my car and found a place to launch. After about five minutes of paddling I thought maybe I was making a big mistake, but I decided that since I was already this far I was going to fish. Two hours later (and soaked to the bone) I was putting the kayak back on the car with a very big smile on my face I caught about seven fish over 18' with the largest being 23'. The river was empty and I had the entire cove to myself. I caught all the fish on Electric Chicken BA's with 3/8 oz jighead. My retrieve was fast with a lot of action. The fast twitching retrieve has been working very well for me. The Kayak is still on the car and I think I'm going to try and get out again tomorrow night. If anyone else wants to go, let me know.

Fisham - you just confirmed my suspicions that you aren't really human - you're more of a fishing "machine"
That said, I'll let you know about tomorrow... I'm dying to get back out again (if it wouldn't be too "civilized" for you to do so in my boat rather than a kayak ;-))
Nice job, btw!

Chris -
Great dedication with a fine payoff. I would like to touch bases with you about where you launch your kayak -- public or private spots.

I, too, would like to touch base with you about where you launch your kayak...and about where you caught that 23!

I launched from a community boat ramp in Arnold. I don't know why, but it seems that the north side of the river is doing better then the south side this year. My next triumph is going to be with the waders. I've scouted a place for my entry and just have to find the perfect day to do it. Maybe Saturday morning.

Way to go Chris!!! You should get a few extra points for sticking out in that weather!!! Were you working breakers/marks or just casting/jigging your favorite spots?

I was fishing spots near shore with ledges and drop offs. I find the spots from studying charts. I don't use a fish finder, so I never fish marks and I hardly ever fish breakers in the river. Now that I think I have a good read on the fish I'm probably going to switch to the flyrod.
WTG fisham, especially in that weather!
Thanks for the report.
