Was planning a trip all week to try and secure a basket for a party tomorow. My oldest son was going no matter what and my middle daughter was pushing hard for a spot on the rajun cajun. Checked out the Noreaster thread last night and was encouraged by a couple of other crazies out there so we decided to gear up and go. Arrived at Hallowing Pt at 0730. Line set by 0800. Have been whackin em good in 10-12'. Set in about 8-10' today just to be out of the wind a bit. Suprisingly, only the shallow end caught. Picked a few from the deeper end but that was it. Don't know if the coastal flooding moved em up a bit or what. Few sooks, few punks, mostly nice darkies. First run produced 18 keepers. Subsequent runs gave up about a dozen each until we had about 5 dozen. Plucked along from that point to get to just over 7 dozen. Back in the truck at 1100 with two freezing kids. Truth be told I was pretty chilly myself. Couple of times I just found myself chuckling as we would putt back up to other end of the line. They would tuck up like turtles in all the gear with only an opening to breathe. They hung in there though and earned their official crabbing card as far as I'm concerned. Much respect Bren and Em. You done good. Here's a couple of pics of the yong Gortons fisherpeople and their harvest from today!
