I am going to brave the elements tomorrow and try one last time. NOAA says there is going to be extreme high tides though in addition to the wx conditions.

I am going Miles and hope to find a spot or two in a few creek mouths and work 6-10 feet. which tomorrow will be a foot higher at least. I doubt Ill have much competition.

Are you goin? Where?

Good Luck!

I'm going to pick up my new-to-me 4 wheeler tomorrow. Momma gave me the green light and signed the check so I have to go before she changes her mind. I would love to join you, but the treetops are still bending pretty good. Might ride down to the farm in the PM. Maybe even climb a tree. Was waiting on the treeclimbing thing til I got back from the butcher shop this weekend. You know. Freezer space and all.

I'm going tomorrow for sure - I plan to wade after what I'm after - i.e. going Booting on the flats tomorrow - no lines to bait or unbait just some fancy fileting hopefully.

Don't worry the odds are with the ducks the way I shoot - hah!:D

Here is what happened.

I got to the water late today at noon thirty. Had unexpected things pop up at home.

It was and raw on the water. Tide was technically low per the tide charts but this wx pattern is/was pushing water up the bay. Tide came up later though. Wow did it.

Anyway, I dropped an initial 10 ctpx with nx in 6-8 ft at the mouth of the creek where I did well last weekend. Then I went to another frequent spot where it was 10-13 feet. I figured the deeper right now would be better. Nope. Nothing out their so I checked the 10 in the creek mouth and thats where they seemed to be again.
I "Carpet Trapped" the whole creek mouth with 30 ctpx. This also allowed me a nice break from the wind too. Later on when the upcoming tide started my tpx in 8 feet had to be moved shallower so they wouldnt walk. Had to move a lot of tpx today as the tide kept coming.

I wasnt overally happy with my 1/2 basket but WTH. Most of these crabs were lighter than I expected for this time of year also. Maybe the big black crabs are deeper and they were not cooperating. I got a few though.

I am done for 2009 due to the next few weekends being busy.

If the wx isnt too snotty, keep trying for them.

Dave - We/didn't do too well with crabs either but 15 quackers made up for it - what a snotty day - first the wind, then rain, then the tide came up hard despite the wind - when you are short, fat, and ugly like me a coming tide means trouble.But...we survived. Yesterday's hunt was like a hunt in mid-December! Last year the temperature was about 75-85 degrees - mixed snow and rain this AM at 4:00 in Bel Air.

I think Al Gore was wrong!

I hope to be able to still do it in 10 to 20 years. Something about it. It calls me.

Wish a Fish sounds great and Id like to try to get there next year.

Chuck, I am glad you scored. I am going to keep an eye out for some duck and goose this season.

The black powder guys were at it on the shore yesterday. Here in Southern AA too.
The geese are really coming in now and I am noticing many deer on the roads. Both dead and alive.

These crabs will be used for adding to the winter supply.

Next week, its a rockfish charter out of SI. There she goes again, she is calling me. Coming dear!

Good effort Dave. Like I always say if we could have a day like that in February and legally catch a few we'd all be out there.:D
