Ron a friend from the neighborhood met me at the pier this morning and we shoved off at about 8:45AM. Windy, rainy and cold again, tried some casting with no hits. Then started trolling with a four rod spread with little ½ oz buck tails. By noon we had 15 to 20 fish, lost count at 15 or 16. About 10 were of keeper size and the 4 we kept were 20" to 22" in size. None for the board, only saw one other boat out there until about noon, all were caught in Round Bay near Long Point.:))

That was me you saw out there. I have been fishing that area for three days now with much success. I tried reaching you on your radio about 10am, but got no response. I am amazed at all the bait and fish in that area. With them water temperature 58 degrees, it seems that these fish will not be here much longer. Hope I'm wrong.............Nice to have a Parker in the weather out there today. I was honkered down with my full rain suite to brave the elements today............and the last three days. Like you I caught about four keepers today to 23" jigging right off the bottom. All fish were released to fight another day. Saturday I lost a big fish after a five minute fight...........Gotta love that..........Oh well, that's what keeps you comming back for more.

How much weight were you trolling with? Were the fish holding deep?

Soneill - Great to see somebody out there, my boat paid for itself this weekend, plus with your Yellow rain suit it was like the sun was poking through. :D Great day for catching fish

TDLewis - No weight at all just my 1/2 bucktails with a 4" twister tail tied to my Fire Line that I use for everything. The bait balls were everywhere out there & the fish were mid depth to the bottom. When I seen them on the bottom I bump it in neutral for a few moments to drop the lure in their face. Ron was using a couple of metal lures, not sure what they were but after I reeled in 5 fish he quickly switched.

I don't even own a top water bait IE: plug, jerk bait, ect. All I used for the river casting or trolling at my spots are the Road Runner or Stump Jumper (Bass Pro doesn’t sale them anymore) lure. I'm getting rather low on them :eek2: and need to order another batch.
