Well Guys, I as well as several others are disipointed about the handling of Bahia and Rocktoberfest. I called early this week to determine if it was going to be canceled due to the weather. The assured me that they were having the tx rain or shine. Friday I double checked again with bahia, and again the tx will be held tommorow. So i drove from Baltimore up to Hagerstown where my boat was, back down to OC. Fished friday Evening, and then headed to Lance of the Longfin house. Sat Lance and went and got tog bait, spot eels, and other needed items. So we are about to go register and meet for the captains meeting when we get word that Bahia canceled Rocktoberfest. WTF I wound up spending 300-400 dollars for nothing.
A highlight we went out for an hour tog fishing, and caught several keepers
As an employee of Bahia Marina I would like to sincerely apologize to all of those who were upset by the canceling of Rocktoberfest. I was told that the tournament would be held rain or shine as it was last year with similar weather. The tournament was not canceled until mid-day on sat and up until then everyone (including employees of Bahia and tournament directors) were preparing for the tournament, whether it be to fish or work. Though I have no say in whether the tournament goes on or not, I believe the right call was made. The forecast for saturday night had been worse than previous days, and sunday didn't look much better. At the time the tournament was canceled there were only 4 boats registered, two of which had registered days if not weeks earlier. That combined with the extremely bad weather was the reason for calling it off. The tournament has been rescheduled for Oct 31st and Nov 1st. Lets hope the weather holds up and the bite is on!
To you JFiedler I personally apologize as I was most likely the person who told you the tournament was on rain or shine. From now on I will always say there is a chance the tournament could be canceled/postponed at the last minute. Believe me, my day would have been a lot better if I was helping to register boats rather than tell people Rocktoberfest was canceled. Good job on toughing it out and catching some tog!

I did a lot or prep and running as well, but you cant control the weather...I think Bahia made the right call. The weather was pretty shitty on Sat night and Sunday and they save a few guys a lot of frustration of trying to fish in that mess....I know, I fished in it!!

I fished too. Would have probably won with the tog my father caught on Saturday. I even talked to Eric in the morning because of a question I had about the calcuttas, then I went and bought all my stuff. Someone else can have first place tog this year (Hopefully its you Rich), I'm out...............
