Headed out of Broad Creek around 0900.. Head up to fleets bay, Marked a ton of bait but no fish.. Head to 59, nothing on the FF or the hook. Head down to 56, nothing. headed east to the ghost hole, nothing. Back to fleets bay and marked bait again... To early for trolling!!!!!!... Packed up the trolling gear and headed for the WSB for some jigging action, got there at the full flood. John manage to gut hook a toad fish to kill the skunk. Headed to the barn with our tails between our legs.....Too early for the troll....60 deg water out on the bay.. should have just gone for the old standby ( Jigging ) sounds like they were hitting in the morning while we were out on the bay ....live and learn

Same thing on my boat. I trolled from Urbanna Creek over to Towles Point where I did mark some decent bait balls and actually had some bird action. Made several casts, nothing. Continued across the mouth of the Corrotoman to the mouth of Locklies, nothing. I then went to Plan B and went over to Butlers to try to catch a stray spot for some live lining, you gessed it, nothing. I then trolled back to the Corrotoman and called it a day. Sounds like jigging is about the only way anyone is catching anything so far. I know the fish are out there from seeing the pelicans and commorants perched around the WSB. Oh well, the season is early and there is plenty days ahead.

Fished the Whitestone Bridge today with some good friends. We caught two right away on the outgoing tide and then it slowed. We left and went up the river. It was a gorgeous day but nothing appeared to be happening so we had a sandwich and headed back to the bridge after the tide had changed. We caught 5 more plus a 17" flounder which was released along with one of the rock. The rock were between 19 and 25 inches. All in all a very pleasant day.

I'm planning on doing some fishing this sat or sunday around the bridge. Whats the best way to catch them this time of year??? What kind of lures are you guys using? Thanks for any input. Will post a report of my findings.

We used a home made octopus/squid/green/mann 6"curly grub/ on a #6 hook all on a 3 way dropper on the bottom. 1/4 oz. chartreuse bucktail with a curly tail grub would probably work as well. Also, the rockfish had peanut bunker in their stomachs.

Went out last Saturday to the WSB and got my limit, biggest being 25 inches, went out yesterday and didn't catch a thing on live spot but did catch one on a storm while casting aroung the piling. Decided to try trolling, put out a stretch and on the first pass caught a tagged fished, when back over the same spot but this time my stretch snagged the structure around the bridge and I lost it, so I headed home.
