My neighbor asked me what type and voltageof charger he should purchase for a marine battery. He owns a small jon boat, and uses an electric trolling motor. Any tips on this? I have always used a 6 amp charger that was given to me, and it charges my delco just fine.

I have an inexpensive Guest Pal portable maintainence charger that only puts out like 2-3 amps. I have 2 class 27 batteries (1 deep cycle and 1 starting) and never have problems. I'll throw the charger on when I get back to the dock and batteries are fine the next morning. Plus during the winter I can take it home to keep them charged. Granted, I'm not running my batteries dead each time (like a trolling motor might do), so I dont need "deep charges.
