Bill Fisher

First off big thanks goes out to Scott (757-962-8710) at Virginia Beach Boats. He might not be able to fix an outboard (as some on this board would say….haha) but he can sure sell a boat. Even in this market. I think his secret is pricing them right…..that hurts just saying that. I know cheesy plug but everyone does it?
There has been some debate as to the first and second happiest day in a boat owner’s life. Some would say the day he buys it and the day he sells it. Well today, it’s official. I am experiencing the second happiest day (so called). The “Bill Fisher” is headed to sunny Florida for some light fishing and cruising to the Bahamas. She had a good life in VB, although a little cold during the winter months. There was fun time for all who fished on her. The last two trips were just amazing. The fish cooperated and did everything but jump in the boat for us. I must say I am a bit sad but I just wasn’t able run her as much as she needed and for it to be worth it to have her sitting in Rudee. Below are a few random thoughts over the years…..good and bad. Hope I didn’t leave any out (if so post’em up).
No more 0 for 10 white marlin days (sorry East Infection)
No more “green” sailfish kicking me the face (Thanks Ed)
No more cobia “genocide” on the buoys (Thanks Jeff / Goose)
No more World Record Barrel Fish (Nice work Trey)
No more sneaking up on Matador while he’s on his Tile numbers, well being accused. Lol. (I got that area from another “smiling” source)
No more Tyrone just chilling in the tower while I stalk cobia. He has good eyes for a dummy (Thanks Keifer)
No more “I wouldn’t call that guy into a fat albert bite” (Sorry Fish Dad)
No more GPS falling off and loosing signal half was to the curve. We stopped there and did better then the people who finished the run (Sorry Chumlord)
No more perfect storms, 50kts winds, life jackets on, and EPIRB ready (won’t miss that)
No more “propositions” while flounder fishing….LOL…had to be there. And yes I still owe one but he will never collect (damn it was funny)
No more towing Chaos back from False Cape in the dead cold darkness
No more being towed from the high rise after getting my anchor and chain in my prop (Thanks Jake for getting me and thanks Shaun for getting my anchor out)
No more falling off my tower on your back and dang near getting knocked out (Ouch Keifer)
No more free gaffing Mr. Brown from the buoys (are the buoys slippery Jeff?)
No more ocean front striper trolling outside Rudee in 30kt NE winds (man we burned them up that day….only 3 boats Bill Fisher, C-Note, Succession)
No more back flips off the pulpit instead of being creeked (8.7 out of 10 at best Ed)
No more fireworks from the water right out side Rudee
No more fishing with my rod hog boss (he is scrappy for an old guy)
No more bad fuel stranding us offshore out of OI (Thanks Pirates Cove A-holes)
No more overheating because of “Weed in our Pipes” (even the Coast Guard thought that was funny, right Johan?)
No more AWESOME bottom paint (right Rob? Lol)
No more screaming Sword Fish, Sword Fish from the tower as a 500lb Blue crashes a green machine (dang rookie boat drivers)
No more all green machine spreads because our tuna are dumb (right Chumlord?)
No more sleeping beside the 70 wide as a monster Blue one crashes the flat line (nighty night Darren)
No more stripper cruises ;-( That’s a lots metal poles on that tower that don’t have girls climbing all over (Thanks Big Ben)
No more captain being at least 20 mins late every morning to the boat. Don’t you know 4:15 means 4:45 in my language? (Sorry to all)
Yeah I think I am going to miss it but effective today I become the ultimate “ho.” If any of you guys who I have fished beside for years ever needs a good crewman just give me a holler. I have gear, bait, knowledge, and fuel money. I don’t mind slapping around on outboards or chilling in the salon. I can help run a big boat, a small one; rigs baits, and miss marlin with the best of them.
It’s been a fun run……
