I have a 20 ft DC on a trailer. I had a guy scrape the bottom paint/fouling paint that was flaking and rubbing off last year when i bought it. Now there is what appears to be a "no sand primer" on top of the gel coat. I am not keeping the boat in a slip but will be trailering to and from mostly salt water. A.) Can i use it as is without hurting the boat? B.) Is there anything that will take that primer off without hurting the gel coat underneath? I'd like to get it back to as close to original look as possible without bottom paint. Can i get the primer off and re-gel coat somehow? Any suggestions??

You can buy just regular bottom paint in various colors that might come close to matching.

Do you know of any product that will get the primer off without hurting the gel coat?
I guess getting it back to original shape will be impossible since they already put primer on the gel coat? Since i will not be keeping it docked but rather on a trailer i'd like to spend as little time having to re-paint year after year, hence trying to get it back to gelcoat without paint.
If i do paint it again do you know if i should go with an antifouling or hard paint? Will be in and out of saltwater mostly. Washed after every trip.
Thanks for the heads up.

If they primed the boat correctly they had to scuff the bottom with sand papper for proper addhision. I would just go with a hard bottom paint which should last for years. I f you go to one of the boating stores someone there should have several ideas. I think that sense the boat has probably been skuffed down you may have to paint the bottom to protect the fiberglass. I realy don't know for sure but it would be a good idea to ask someone who would know. I have heard of fiberglass blistering from exposure to water.
