oil pressure up

i have an 1988 inboard chevy 4.3l V6 with an OMC outdrive. i added a elect ignition conversion kit over the winter, and did the normal tune up and maintenance. the oil pressure gauge fluctuates near the top, reading max at idle, but the motor runs fine. had the coil go out as a result of the conversion, but fixed that (wrong coil). still cant figure out whether its a problem or the gauge. any ideas would be appreciated. Probably the gauge or sender. If not then the oil pump pressure relief valve may be suspect.

thanks. i bought a sender and will swap that out tonight. fixed the overheating problem...impeller.....and its running great, so i hope and pray that its that or the gauge.....
