I have a new rem 870 fully rifled slug barrel. The manufacter recomends sabot slugs but can you use standard rem sluggers without damaging the barrel? How about accuracy?

but the accuracy is awesome! My bro has the cantilevered with a scope, and I have the normal one. One of the hunting mags did a test on slugs and the Lightfield 2 3/4 slugs were the winners. I tried them and we can always be in the black at 100 yards no problem. Dropped one in the neck from 70 yards last year. I love the combo. However, when you have a headache later in the day, it's from the recoil.

you can only shot sabot slugs from a rifled barrel. Had a friend that used a slugger because it said slugger and nearly blew that barrel apart. it will mess the rifling up as well

Solid non saboted slugs are mainly designed for smooth bore barrels.

Sabot slugs - $16 / box
Sluggers - $4.50 / box
Not hard to see why you asked the question. Unfortunately, you should have asked it before you bought the gun!! You should just get comfortable w/ spending almost $4/shell knowing your shot is wicked-accurate!
