Earlier this year we heard that the Greenvale Creek, Broad Creek, Queens Creek and Winter Harbor channels were to be dredged by the Corp of Engineers with Stimulus money.

I can''t seem to find any updates on the status of these projects. Specifically, I'm interested in Queens Creek near Gwynn's Island. I had heard earlier in the year that it was going to be dredged in August, but haven't seen anything going on. The white *danger shoaling* markers are still in place.

Anybody heard an update for these projects?

As far as I know Greenvale Creek is done. This is what I have heard. I heard Broad Creek is a mess. As far as the others I do not know. Maybe someone else can answer this question. Snailman where are you?;-)

The COE just posted the bid tabulation on Oct. 29 for the Braod Creek project. It looks like Southwind Construction was low. You can view the entire package, including the drawings and related abstracts at:

I'm on Broad Creek and am really looking forward to them opening the channel back up.

As of now there is a dredging crew working on Hoskins Creek in Tappahannock, Talked to one of the formans & he said when they are finished working at Hoskins Creek, they will be moving to Queens Creek. He also said they they hope to have the Hoskins Creek job finished by THIS weekend. He also said that they are getting ready to shut down for the year & go home for a much needed vacation, but did not tell me when.

Ask him if they wouldn't mind coming here as well. I am trying to work on getting the channel here dredged also. I want bigger boats here.:D

We are getting the spoils from Queens Creek and the start date was supposed to be October 15th.

Greenvale Creek has been dredged. The channel is 8-9 feet deep from the Upper Deck Restaurant out to the Rapp.

I hear the Little Wicomico River at Smith Point will be dredged shortly also, but have no idea as to the timetable.
