Okay, Okay, I've been eavesdropping on this board for a couple of weeks. I usually fish in Eastern Bay up north, but I've been invited to go fishing out of Reedville this coming weekend. The fellow has an 18 ft center console, but says he dosen't know much about fishing and he wants me to show him. Well fishing in the upper Bay is a lot different than fishng the lower portion and I've been looking for any pointers I can get. A couple of questions. What lures/bait would you use for Speckled Trout. We don't even have them where I fish and I haven't got a clue. The next questions are about Rock. This time of year my usual plan is to head out and look for birds and/ or bait balls and jig near them. The fish seem to be in about 40 ft of water right now where I usually go. Is this a good plan in your water? and What general area should I try? I promise I'll post after our trip no matter the results.

Good plan. Trolling is another method to try.

Don, I'm sorry, but I HATE trolling. I know it works, but takes too many rods. The rods are too big and bulky and reeling the fish in against the drag of the boat 'aint no fun either. (This is my problem not yours) Thanks for the response.
Brigitte, I should have said that I would post IF I get a little info. Come on give me somthing. I'm begging.

Capt. Walt, from what I'm hearing the Rockfish are schooling up on pods of bait in the Reedville area. Just as you said, look for the birds, work the fishfinder and jig some up.

Best advice I can give you is pick your days wisely in that size boat. If you are jigging and casting follow the birds, this time of the year you should be able to stay in them. That area of the Bay can get snotty in a hurry.

LOL! I like it when a man begs.My buddy here Alan Daniels caught a rockfish in the mouth of the Corrotoman ( I did not spell that right) yesterday. The fish was 26". Does this help? Just come to the Rappahannock and give it a try.;-)

One place you might consider is chumming in the SW middle grounds.. not too far from reedville.

Dell, Thanks. The guy I'm going out with mentioned going over past Bouy 62 if the Bay is flat enough. I think that's where the SW Middle Grounds is located.
Brigitte, Thanks, I rarely beg, but when it comes to fishing I often lose my self control. I think the Rapp may be a little out of our range, but info is info.
John, We'll try to be careful.
