My boat is waiting on parts to fix the starter, so I readily accepted an invitation of a good friend to fish the Potomac in his bass boat. He took me to some really great spots on the main river and showed me how to catch bass on a chatterbait. He caught one over 4 pounds, and I did too, but I caught none on a chatterbait. I landed mine on a 7 foot Wally Marshall ultralight crappie rod with a balsa Rapala deep diver fished on the surface. In all, we landed about 45 bass, one yellow perch, one rockfish and almost got one bluegill. If you love bass fishing, I suggest the Potomac right now, and the main river below DC in the grass. For some reason we could get no hookups on topwater baits, just short strikes on buzzbaits and Zara Spooks.
