Just wondering - why do we say "anchoring up" when it's really anchoring down? Now "dropping the hook" is understandable but to "anchor up" -- hummmmmmmmmmm.[grin]

We do that a lot in Virgina when fishing for Spades at the Chesapeake Light Tower off of Virginia Beach. First we "drop the hook" then we "anchor up" so we can "drop the hook" again cause we missed a few times and it just doesn't catch.

Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a drive way? Why does my car say my doors a jar when we know its a door?

Did you ever notice that if you blow in a dog's face it makes him mad, but if he rides in a car with the window down he sticks his head out the window?

Didn't the saying "anchoring up" come from the practice of anchoring upstream?
