We'll i climbed a tree in the dark in an area i have been seeing a lot of movement, approx 70 yds from where i usually hunt lookes good from the ground... So up i was and as the sun rises i would see that i had small twigs and trees at all angles with very little shooting lanes.. i was so frustrated i couldn't get shots to were the rub lines were i made myself climb down after just an hour or so of self debate.. i walked in a 100yd circle before i found a tree that gave me clear shots to another heavily used path and was so discouraged i wouldn't see anything after all of that movement.. texted my buddy how frustrated i was that i had to move so early in the morning and make all that noise and i didn't think i would see a deer for hours and then it happened.. it sounded like wind blowing the tree limbs and leaves in the distance or hail falling from the sky i stood up to check out what was going on and out of no where came flying tails and bouncing heads racks spike does all within 60 yds some as close as 10.. something must have scared them. IF I said there was 50 deer i would be under estimating. must have saw 6 bucks with racks and a few others spikes i never did take a shot in all of the shock .. i told my buddy what happened and he said i was full of it .. convinced him to move up to my area in evening in hopes to catch them going back to wherever they came from and after he saw approx 30 deer he said now i believe you! too bad for me i sent him in the direction they headed and he saw them in evening and i didn't see anything.. he managed a decent 8 I would love to know what scared them or what happened but it may be a once in a lifetime experience as i have never in my life saw anything like what happened today.

what would make the deer do that? i have never heard of something like that, i try to picture that happening in my head and seems wild, i'd like to have my shotgun in my hand if that was to happen to me. where was this at?

I love it when they scatter like quail. I can guess what scared them. Probably someone working his dogs in preparation for shotgun season.
