Hit something submerged tonight north of Pooles. Log, I don't know but it was big. I was in 22 feet of water, trolling about 2.5. Tore up my aluminum prop. Man I should have never switched the stainless.
Asking for info on refurb shops. Harford, Cecil area preffered.
I actually don't even know if it can be fixed. Took for ever to get in. Water too cloudy to change out there. Couldn't see 6" down.
One keeper though xing the channel, storms on a 8 inch umbrella

Sorry for your troubles. You can usually buy a new aluminum prop for what it cost to refurbish one. Give Terry a call at Intercoastal Marine (410-335-0458). There's still way too much junk in those waters to be out there. I haven't seen a rock yet that is worth a prop.[wink]

I finally found a new one West Marine in Northeast.
Guess I am not the only. Girl there said they have been selling alot of them lately[grin]

Glad you found one. Guess we're all going to be a little throttle shy until all crap is flushed south.[wink]

I am retracting my statement about wishing I would have never switched the stainless. If I would have had that on, I would probably be looking for a new Bravo 1 lower unit!!!! The one on it was just put on in 2004, when the new motor was installed.
Installed new prop left stainless and one old aluminum for my backups. You can never have too many props. You just never know! Actually dropped the other one off to see if they could fix it.
$75 is cheaper than the $109.99+39.99 hub kit I spent today.

I used to be a stainless man until i talked around with several mechs;. they will tell you that the weight of the steel props will
destroy lower units a lot faster than the alum; ones.
In your case as was mine when you hit a object you said the
alum broke up as it is designed to do, when i hit, the steel took
the impact and transfered it to the low-unit destroying the shaft
and bearing, not a cheap fix, the rubber hub [clutch] did work
they say but not fast enough. My mech [Who i highily respect]
swears by steel and says that if people will put their motor in
gear like a man [not grind it in he means] that the "steel props
won't were on the unit". Well i fish at nite and by the time you
see someting in the water you already hit it. I'll stick with the
alum and keep the back-up in the cabin. -thanks.
Had one mech; tell my buddy that the steel props made him
RICH just in replaceing lower units.
Of corse this can be discussed until the cows come home. BUT.
