Used Boat

I been thinking about buying my 1st boat for fishing in the Tangier Sound area. Here is an ad for a boat (C-Hawk) down my way and I was hoping someone could give me some feedback about whether this sounds like a good deal and a good boat for the bay?

Sounds like a great deal but many would find a 16 footer a little smallish for the bay.

I think this would be a great way to get into boating, assuming the boat is in good shape. 16' is a bit small for the Bay, as CAPT George pointed out (He is a veeeeery experienced captain and fisherman, btw), but it's a perfect size for learning. There is so much to learn about boating, boat maintenance, weather, water, trailering, launching, etc. Many of us who have been doing it for years take this for granted.

I would recommend to anybody getting into boating to start small and used and move up from there. There is simply no way to know what style and size boat is going to best suit your needs until you have spent time on the water. You may even decide you don't want to be a boater after all. Many times you can sell your used boat for what you paid for it. Start with a new boat and you will lost lots of money on it's sale.

Also, consider taking a boating safety course if you haven't already done so. They are well worth the time.
