went to the navy rec. marina on the Severn around 0630, beautiful morning. started trolling toward Greenbury point with a 10' diving rattle trap, went around the point and through the shallows with no hits. started back up river and changed to a 1.5 oz buck tail with a saltw. asasin glass minnow (black on top, clear with sparkles underneath. slowed trolled to about 1/8 mile from the 450 bridge and saw some birds working out in the middle of the river, went up and cast into the action and wham felt something hit but didn't take the bait. threw out a 2nd time and wham again this time the fight was on. feisty 21" rock in the boat. got the hook out of it's lip and untangled my stringer and hooked him up and went back for more but they had disappeared.

not a real big fish but i haven't had much luck this fall so i was very happy:clap:

That is a nice fish/dinner. In October/November/December. I will be happy with an 18 incher. What was the water temp? Stiil over 50F

It looks like fat and healthy one. Nice catch.

it was real tasty, baked it in alum. foil with some jerk spice we got in the virgin islands last september. added a little butter, olive oil, diced tomato, sliced carrots, a little lemon, basically any thing in the refrig. that was handy. baked for 1hr 20 min @ 370 deg yum!

water temp 53, really nice day and hardly any one on the water. hamstrings a little sore to day. those turbo fins are nice but they have more surface area and are harder to peddle than the standard fins.

You are right about the Turbo Fin. I think Standard Fins are better over-all. I got knee pains when I was pedalling Turbo Fins for all trips so far. Probably my age. I am changing back to the standard fins to see the pain was caused by turbo Fins.

Joe, make sure that you are not extending your knees all the way keep them slightly bent on the extension. the turbos are like riding a 10 speed bike in 5th gear up hill, and like a bike when peddling your knees never extend fully.

Sam, I never lock my knees. I think the pain is caused by my age and stress to the knees. I think I give my knees rest after one more trip. Once the water temp drops below 50F I am not fishing in the main body of the Bay. I will fish in the tributaries or bridge pilings. I need to understand and learn fishing structures.

getting older sucks! i used a 7' med hev 30# class rod and okuma advenger LL reel sunday not my usual im7 graphite with a penn 2500LL reel, and when casting to and pulling in that fish my shoulder felt like someone put sand paper in the rotor cuff. switched back to the IM7 it's alot lighter and easier to cast from a seated position,

i have no problem with the 30# outfit from shore, just not ideal seated in a kayak. i've had shoulder problems for years and thought that paddling my redfish and tarpon would bother my shoulder but never did.
