Nottoway before the rain

River is high and muddy. Still managed about 2 dozen hickories and one american this morning. Most people I talked to today weren't doing well. The water is high and muddy and with this coming rain it is only going to get worse. I almost didn't go this morning. Glad I did.

Oh yeah, the cottonmouths are out. Be careful if you are one that likes to tie up to the brush and trees. The snakes were laying very still in the branches warming themselves. Pretty snakes. Glad they weren't energized this morning.

I can second that about the snakes. I went yesterday, came off the water 5:45PM. Saw several of the "no legs" laying up on the branches. None in the water. Caught a few shad but nothing to write home about.
My son told me the shad were thick in the Nasemond over at Brady's Marina. May go over there to check it out. Me thinks the Nottoway is gonna get bad like NG says after this rain.
