In winter, I carry more stuff for fishing on my truck. I always wanted to have more eye bolts on my truck so that I can strap/bungee a cooler, small utility box and other stuff along with the kayak.

Finally I got an idea and installed a chain. I only bought 6 feet of chain. The 6 foot chain can be installed on any side on my Tundra. It costed me about 10-12 dollars.

After that, I can bungee/strap from any place of the truck.

I thought this is a useful feature for kayaker with a pickup truck.

The parts are rated over 400 lb.

I see how that would be useful. May have to try that on the Tacoma. Thanks for sharing.

FFBent,
I bought one 6' (side and one 5' (back of the cabin) chain and three S hooks later. Now I cover all three side. unlike nylon straps I leave the chains on the bed. They are 100% uv proof. Now I can strap/bungee from any point of the bed.

I have a couple of tiedowns that I keep stretched across the back of my truck for the same reasons.

Why would you want your lures and UV-sensitive plastics "out" instead of in a box or two?

Pacosun Boy,
I was just drying my lures and other stuff. I rinsed lures on on the truck bed and took them inside when dried. Where do you dry your stuff?

I soak my lures in a 5-gallon bucket of fresh water for a few hours then rinse with more fresh water. The lures are then hung on the edge of the bucket to air dry. I comb out the skirts on the mojos and parachutes with the aid of detangler as soon as they are pulled from the bucket.

Stretches and Tomics will float on top of the water in the bucket so I put them in the water last. I typically only use one or two per trip.

I didn't realize you were only using the chain to hang your lures for rinsing and drying...still, keep an eye on your zinc-plated chain and turnbuckles. I would expect them to begin to show the effects of weather and salt exposure within a couple of weeks.
