[Bay Runner]

I bottom fished today on the Warwick River and caught small catfish and big horse croaker. I was wondering if anyone knew how long the Isle or Wight side of the JRB will be closed. I fished that side last year until it was shut down. It was a good place to put in.
I've been fishing a Pungo 140 and I like it. I recently ordered a Tarpon 160I. It should be here on or about the 22nd of the month.

What where you using for bait? I have never heard of the Warwick river, Does it flow to the James river or the York river?

Frozen shrimp works well for the big croaker as well as the catfish. The river flows into the James. There is a good boat ramp at the end of Denbigh Boulevard. A short paddle down river on the Fort Eustis side will be a green Daymarker #11. Fish that area on the flats and the 17 ft. channel. There is also white perch and striped bass. When the tide is up, I carry a long handled crabbing net and catch grass shrimp. All fish love those.

The sewage discharge is also a hot location. Easy to find...just look for the birds.
