...So this is my first spring here in Chesapeake. I had a blast this fall with bass at the bridges, but never made it out to fish the sweetwater. I'd like to try fishing the 5 or 8# flyrod on some pan fish and/or LMB over the next few weeks.

Of course, I'm clueless as far as decent areas that a can have a reasonable shot at some fish on. Not looking for anyone's honey-hole, just general information. I have a buddy coming into town this weekend and he's bringing down his yak in anticipation of hitting the water.

Any and all help appreciated. Thanks.

Northwest river--put in at Bobs fishing hole on route 168 just before the Carolina line or the Pocaty River has a put in on Blackwater road just down from Pocaty road. Put in on the parking side of the bridge and head East. Its not very open or wide for the first few hundred yards but it opens out to some really nice flyrod water after that. The channel back there runs from 6-10' deep and nice cover on the sides. Seldom any traffic back that way also.
