Hey guys i know the crabs right now aren't the best but I would like to have one last taste before i start shucking oysters. Anybody out here selling crabs this weekend? Ida Mae would probably be the first person to ask, but anyone please let me know. I live in Mechanicsville so wouldn't take me long to come pick em up

You have to call your local seafood dealer. The get them all winter from the south. I have two in M. Airy...........Gary

I know that, i meant a commercial crabber that sells them by himself (like Ida Mae and all the other guys).....If i went to a seafood dealer I would end up paying $75/bushel, im trying to stay away from that.

That's because ya live up north, I live in southern maryland and right now you can ask anyone, they are selling for $50-60 a bushel. The can't get rid of them....thats why i feel bad for ya because you get screwed for crabs

There aren't any crabs in Maryland better than what you get out of the Patuxent or Potomac.
But if you guys prefer going to Joe's Crab Shack and such to pay out of the a** for poorer crabs than to each their own.

I have never paid for crabs other than bait and gear. And the Pat isn't considered far south. I didn't say Southern Maryland and I didn't say I didn't like Southern crabs. They just taste different "not quite"and usually are packed in quantity not Quality. That is just my opinion.

Try crabby rick's (formerly copsey's) right where you live. He hasn't sold any junk so far and he has crabs year round. Yeah I know they come up from the south but they are fat and he has a good connection for the best quality crabs. If you can't find crabs in Mechanicsville now then chances are slim to none for locating them elsewhere as far as local crabs go. I,m building my new home in mechanicsville so howdy neighbor... Mark
