made a new 4 arm umbrela rig with 6 inch electric chicken baits last night. Went over the stern of the boat @ 9:30 this morning and by 9:45 was realing in a nice 27 1/2 in fat rock with a little green tag:D. Caught 2 slots and finished the day with a nice 36 incher. All on the Rap upriver of the bridge.

did the tag have growth on it... We caught one back in sept that had a tag and it was covered with growth and the fish had a very bad sore right where the tag went... its was on the bottom of the fish...

not sure about the tagging program if it causes this to happen... maybe tag was in the wrong place...not sure

the tag did have growth but no sore. VIMS called back within an hour of my reporting the tag. Great conversation with the scientist. The fish was tagged in the rap and was probably a local fish. Side note Tagged fish do not count in your limit and are not subject to size regs. nice to know. Also $20 bucks for the intact return of the fish or $5 bucks for the report of the fish info. Dark green tags are $125 reward tags and the researcher said one guy reported three all caught in one school for $375. Last point the VIMS boat goes by my home on Mosquito Point on the way to do their research in the Rap.

if you land a tagged fish you keep it? never caught one and had never thought about it.

I caught one a few ago, the fish was tagged in the spring near the mouth of the Rap, I caught trolling the W/B bridge, I told them to keep the $5 but they sent me a check anyway.
