Hello fellow anglers,
My partner & I got to fish kerr fri. & sat. we stayed on the water from sun up to sun down both days and had a blast. The fish were schooled up and acted like they were starving. Several times during our trip we had on 2 or more fish at the same time, it was definitely some of the best striper fishing we've had in 09. We used live shad and Wildeyed shad swimbaits for bait and fished from buoy's 7 through 12. The bite on artificial was real good, at one point early sat morn. we put 10 fish in the boat in 45 min. and they were all nice fish, they were busting on top and we got right in the middle of them and had the most fun that could be had on the water. The water temps. ranged from 56 to 58 in the areas we fished. We noticed trollers were catching fish also.
I would definitely say the bite is on, the high water really seemed to help things out. We put stripers, blues,LMB. ond white perch in the boat, but caught mostly striper. We used 150 live shad on the 2-day trip plus all the bites we had on artificial. Trips like this one give me hope and optimism that the fishery is improving.
see yall on the water,
