Had a great day trolling today with my Uncle. Had gotten the "Intel" about the mouth of the river and had planned to head down but the fog this morning was thick along with rain and some breeze so we stayed upriver.
We limited out in 2 passes - 2 overs and 2 unders. They were 24, 27.9, 41 & 43! 3 off boards and one off deep umbrella. 2 on single 12" shad.

Then things went slack for about 2 hours. We wer downriver on the VA side and decided to head across. As we made the turn we could see some activity closer to MD. As we got a little closer birds were going absolutely crazy in front of us - pelicans, gannetts and gulls pounding the water. There was one boat jigging and another 2 trolling nearby. We didn't get anywhere close before my Uncle hooks up and it is a nice fish.

And then total chaos...double hookups and the tangles from HELL! Ever seen 8 rods tangled up a one time!

Final tally for half day fishing 16 rock, 12 over 40".

Most fish came off boards, many on 12" shads. White and chartreuse equally producing. Purple heads were the best.

Wow! Looks like you two had a good day. Congrats to the both of you. Hey next time when you see a pelican take a picture. I love pelicans. I know I heard they are a mean bird but they just fascinate me. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!;-)

Paul, Congrats again on your great day fishing. Are you fishing this weekend? Saturday might be breezy but Sunday forecast looks better. Did you get those 3 rod holders at RWs?

Way to go on a less than perfect weather day. Send those big girls a few miles south. Nice picture of the furball around the umbrella.

Dave,
Picked up the rod holders from Green Top in Ashland - great place to get rockfishing supplies too! Might fish Fri, not sure.

Sounds like chaos in the cockpit and a good time was had by all! Also looks like a potential state record Charlie Foxtrot of fishing tackle! :D

Glad you got em Sea King. I went yesterday(Wed). Left outta Cod Creek in a wicked fog and headed NE to MD. Pop and I only had a couple hours to fish. Saw a few pods of bait from 40-60' of water. Temp yesterday was 53 if I remember right.
We had one knock down and that was it. If not for compass/GPS we would have never found our way in.
While I was finishing up washing the boat, we could see MD.. It cleared up beautiful. I would have liked to have gone right back out, but had to go.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Brent
