You can by a state forest stamp and hunt several state forest on route 60 west of Richmond. Cumberland State Park ( approx 17,00 acres) and Powatan State Forest (unknow acres). I have hunted Cumberland several years and have had great success.

linebuster, would you say Cumberland or Powatan over hunted areas? I usually go to WMAs but looking for better grounds.

Cumberland State Forest is about an hour from Richmond-16,000 acres. Powhatan is a WMA not a state forest. Both of these areas get alot of pressure.

Cumberland State Forest is overrun with idiots. I would stay away from there. A bunch of people who don't even own a dog just running around like crazy trying to get in front of a running dog. Not to mention how dangerous that can be.
