Thanksgiving day started off lousy. As we were loading some gear on the boat at the dock I found my son with a bananna. The fog was so thick at 0645 I could barely see the bananna. Made him leave it at the dock and it NEVER made it on the boat. Is a bananna on the dock just as lethal as being on the boat? Must be because the fog continued to roll in and we did not have a good day. I figured it would burn off in a bit. Had to creep out of Lagrange Creek with my face glued to the GPS and map and my son on watch. We worked hard till 1100 back and forth between #8 and up past #10 including working hard back and forth across the deep ditch in front of Conrads. Worked Stretches, Mojo's, and Tandems. Marked a lot of bait and fish but could not entice them to bite. By 1100 the fog was even worse. Boats appeared silently like ghost out of the fog and were close enough to have a chat as we passed. I was really dreaming of a radar unit for XMAS about that time. Radio traffic reported fish being caught including some nice fish over 40" near #8. It was just not our day. I just kept thinking of that bananna. We came home empty and skunked. We will be back out there tomorrow in the wind to see if we can do better. Good luck and hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving.:wacko::wacko:

Tomorrow try starting off fishing the edges of the channel between buoy 6 & the bridge. Leave the Mojo's at home & drag 4-6 inch Storm paddle tails in shad & green colors. No additional weights needed. If you have one run a small 'chute rig down the middle a little deeper. I think you'll be suprised with the results. Outgoing tides are producing better then the incoming for some.

IMO the banana thing is a bunch of bull. I think Captains use it as an excuse. My best day occurred when Bobby C. pulled out a bunch of banannas while he was bailing the flounder and croakers.

We could not fish either Thanksgiving morning because of the fog. I heard the bay had no fog. Well, Its Friday at noon, and can't get out because of the wind....doesnt mother nature know it's not very often we get 4 days off in a row?

Not to worry....in a pinch you can put a #10 hook and a inline weight on a banana you'll have a great banana stretch. A bunch of them will get you a banana umbrella!!

Slatedog Josh won out to go Deer hunting Thurs morning and he knocked one down so good day but while we were out there in the woods in the fog I said to myself glad my charter was Wed instead of Thursday as I figured you guys were socked in. We had fog Wed but not as bad. My charter was limited out by 9:30 Wed and we caught around 40 up to 27.9 inches but no bigs ones like Sunday. All our fish were dead on the bottom one fish came up top on an umbrella. Fri and todays Charters canceled due to wind but we will be out there tommorow. Capt Steve is dead on with the storms put some down kissing the bottom and you'll catch. Lot of Com nets at 10 Wed in the 50' water watch what you say on here as Im worried about them moving down river and messing up the bite. With the super March run of big fish that we can't fish and they can it makes me mad when they set up this time of year stretched out across the river with sub par markers trash your spread and tear off our baits if your not aware (didn't happen to me but saw a guy have all his spread go dwn and it won't fish) and payn attention. Havent been hitting the areas Capt steve mentioned but heard it was good and we will proably hit it some tommorow. As a charter Capt I've got to catch fish no mater what tide so I try to push those things out of my mind but out going is whate everyone is saying is the best and has been the best for me but I have caught on the incoming too. As far as bananas I try not to buy in to that buttttt. Woman on the boat cancels it out go back and get mom next time and the curse will be broken. I've heard of throwing a dollar over board to break the spell. Josh says the way to break bad luck Deer hunting is to eat a snickers bar so far that one has been working on land might have to try it on the water. Everytime he we eat a snickers bar he sees Deer.

Have a good one

Thanks Bobby. I have not had a real chance to get back out yet and try the suggestions from you and Capt Steve. We tried again a little on Friday morning but cut it short as it was howling out there and even though my 22 footer was hanging in there pretty well we were still getting blown around making for unfavorable trolling conditions in general. We get awful fog one day with bathtub conditions and then the next day partly sunny but howling west winds and big water. I hope to get back out maybe tomorrow. I don't know about the bananna thing either. Convenient to blame though! As for the snickers deal....I might give it try but swap it out for a butterfinger. Good luck to you and Josh

Bobby, I fished out near the cut channel today (Sunday) straight out from windmill bar & had an unbelievable day. Was using the usual spread of tandem 'chutes in white & chartuse. Had a couple of your secret weapon lures from a couple of years ago in the mix. Birds were working good & when the fish started hitting they hit that special lure of yours 3 to 1 compared to the rest of the baits I was dragging. When I had time I re-rigged a couple of the other poles & pretty soon we were getting doubles & having 2 & 3 rods go down at a time! By the end of the day I figure we had more then 50 fish come to the back of the boat. Didn't get on the water until after 10 & the bite was done before 2.

You gonna start fishing the bay any time soon?

Capt. Steve I'll post later today after getting some pics on the website but we limited out Wed by 9:30 and yesteday by 10:30 catching 40 plus each day. No big fish yesteday but the Rapps holding it own with 40 plus inchers. Know of a 47, 46.5 and 46 icher caught in the last week. Last fish of the day yesteday was a keeper flounder to put a little icing on the cake for Teets crew caught on that secret Wepon lure of mine. Call me about Saturday.

Your doing very well lots of Charter boats didn't make a limit yesteday and I talked to no one I knew that had your sucess yesterday as far as numbers. Keep it up and bring some of that Good fishing MOJO with you Saturday. I'll try and show you how to be just as succesfull in the river on those days weather forces you to make a left out of the creek instead of a right.

Have a good one
