went to KN this morning around 0600 without kayak because of the weather. started fishing the west side with a 1oz bucktail tipped with a SW assassin glass minnow, wind and tide were blowing under the bridges. after 20 casts i changed to a pink SWA for about 20 more casts with no hits so i went to the east side and started casting between the bridges, after the fourth cast wham right next to the bulkhead this fat 22"er hit that bucktail hard. i was using a lite tackle rod so i reached down and grabbed the leader to pull him up. cast around for about half an hour more but the cold was bothering my shoulder and it was getting sore by that time it was getting lighter and i was not getting any more hits.

checked out SPSP on the way back over the bridge, man that nor'easter changed the the beach area around quite a bit.

checked the stomach contents when i cleaned it, i don't know where he was going to put that bucktail he was full of 4" alewives

Way to Go, Sam!

That is a nice fish. I hope weather stays warm a little longer until the New Year.

I am staying in my eldest son's house in NC this Thanksgiving weekend. I could bring my kayak and fish in Lake Norman but I decided not to. This is the first time my family got together in 4 years, and my youngest son, Marine, will be deployed to Afghanistan soon. My wife is having a good time with two boys and a daughter-in-law.

Sam.
About that pink WSA - I used them in Long Island, and had very good luck with them. I got the idea by watching one of ESPN shows. A female guide in Montauk used similar lures for stripers, and that was why I bought them. I used them on jig heads only so far, but now I am going to try them on buck tails.

Joe, pink gulp minnows also work for rock and flounder. i think that the hair gives the presentation a little extra attraction than a plain jig head. lost 2 BTs to snags this morning with on hits. 2 guys in a boat were coming in and said they came up empty also. tide running low not the best tide for KN.
