Anybody have any experience with Nissan Marine outboards? Am in the market for an 8-9.8 hp. Just don't know much about them (other than from their website). Cabela's sells them too. thx.

I had a 2 stroke 9.8. Great little motor. Probably the best hp to weight ratio of any 10 hp out there. Mine even had electric start.

I have a 4hp and it's been great for the short time I've had it. My understanding is that they are a rebadged Tohatso

Thanks guys. Looking at the 9.8, but it's a 4 stroke. Still the weight looks good. Tohatso had a good rep, so that's good news.

PS - is there anyone out there that thinks VMRC thinks a 9.8hp is the same as 10hp?
Ran a Nissan 18 for years... bullet proof engine. Don't know much about the 4 strokes.

Bought the 9.8 on sale from Cabela's. VERY Good price. Arrived in less than a week. Fired right up. Very sweet!
Smaller Nissan AND Mercury 4-strokes are rebadged Tohatsu's.
In the Navy I travel throughout Asia alot - that is all you see on skiffs over there - Tohatsu/Nissan - those guys are on the water 24/7.
